Long Time No Blog...

The long-awaited update has finally come! There have been a few "blog worthy" events that occurred between the last October blog and now, but I'm just going to update on Baby Crolley for now. *Disclaimer: I hate calling the baby "it," but we don't know the gender yet and I don't want to keep typing "Baby Crolley" over and over again, so please forgive me for calling my child an it.*

On November 2nd, I went back to the doctor to get another sonogram and a definite due date. It completely amazed me how much the baby grew in just 2 weeks! The baby had tiny, little nubs for its arms and legs and it was wiggling its little arm nubs! Dr. Lewis even commented on how much it was wiggling. Unfortunately, Paul wasn't able to go to this appointment with me, but I filled him in on our wiggly baby. Dr. Lewis also kept my due date of June 7th. Below is Baby Crolley as a little dot at 6 weeks and 4 days (the first 2) and Baby Crolley again at exactly 9 weeks (the last 2).
My next appointment was on November 24th (I was 12 weeks). I told Paul not to bother coming with me because I was going to get my routine check-up from the waist up, so he wouldn't miss anything. Turned out I was wrong! After my check-up, Dr. Lewis tried to listen to the baby's heartbeat with a little doppler thing, but he couldn't find it! Ah! Talk about me getting a little nervous. Dr. Lewis was calm and assured me that he did actually hear about 4 beats, but needed to hear more. Well, I didn't hear it, so that meant he didn't hear it....right? Haha. So into the sonogram room I go to get another sonogram. And there was Baby Crolley wiggling and stretching its arms and legs around like crazy! Whew! I was so sad that Paul missed it. However, being the wonderful doctor he is, Dr. Lewis printed a few pictures so that my darling hubby could see our growing baby. You can make out the eyes, nose, and mouth. I want to show you Baby Crolley's 12-week portraits, but for some reason it won't upload into the blog. I'll try to post it later.

December 17th was a quick check-up, but I made Paul come with me this time because I was scared he would miss something. No sonogram was needed this time, but we did get to hear the baby's heart. It's funny how hearing a galloping heart makes you so happy. I think it's because I get relieved when I hear a good, strong hearbeat that lets me know the baby is okay.

On January 3rd, I felt the baby move for the first time. We were sitting in church and I suddenly felt this little thumping. I leaned over and told Paul that I thought I felt the baby move, but I wasn't sure. People always describe the first time they feel the baby move as a flutter, which makes me think of a tickle feeling, but this felt more like a small, quick muscle spasm, so I wasn't positive I felt the baby move or not. I felt this same feeling a few more times throughout the next few days, but wrote it off as my muscles twitching from all the growing and whatnot. It wasn't until that Thursday (the 7th) that I finally realized it was the baby moving and it has been moving quite a bit now that I realize what's going on. It hasn't thumped hard enough for Paul to feel it move yet, but I'm sure it'll happen soon.

Our big appointment is on January 21st. I absolutely cannot wait because that's when we're going to find out if the baby is a boy or girl. I'm seriously about to die of curiosity. I want to know so badly! It seems like it's been months since my last appointment because I've been anticipating this time. Anyway...Paul and I will finally be able to call the baby "he" or "she" at the end of next week...no more "it."

That's enough updating for now. I'll have to do another post again soon to let you know about other events. I hope everyone is happy and well :)

That "thumping" feeling is exactly what I felt with Brandon and with this one with the first kicks. I can't wait to hear if it is a boy or girl!

I'm so glad that I checked your blog tonight and got to see these pictures of the baby. I love its little nubs and head! It's so cool that you felt him or her move for the first time when you were sitting in church; I can just picture you leaning over to Paul to let him know.

Can hardly wait until Thursday!
