It's a Brand New Year!

Well, Paul and I had plans to invite a few friends over to our place to celebrate the New Year, but we slacked and never fell through with our plans. On New Year's Eve morning, we thought we were going to be ringing in the New Year with just each other. But then my phone rang!!!! It was our friends Daniel and Rose! They wanted to know if we had any plans or knew of anything that was going on. We told them we were losers and had no plans and knew nothing...haha! So the four of us went to dinner, then came back to Paul's and my apartment where we played games and of course had the t.v. on in the background with all the New Year festivities going on in NYC. We rang in the New Year together drinking bubbling apple cider. YEAH! It was probably the quietest New Year I have ever had, but it was still tons of fun. Yay for friends and a new year to start over :)

Christmas in South Carolina

Okay...so it has been quite some time since I blogged last. SORRY! I have let time just go right on by. Now I need to play catch-up. Hopefully, I don't forget anything. Paul and I arrived in Myrtle Beach the Monday night before Christmas around 10:30. On Tuesday morning, he, Elizabeth, and I met Frankie (Paul's dad) for breakfast. We ate at Akel's....it has the best breakfast! We enjoyed each other's company. It was good to see Frankie since we see him all that often. After breakfast, I went back to my parents' house to begin the Christmas baking with the girls: Mom, Tiffany, Rebecca, Alexis, Courtney, and even Ginnie got in on it. We had the Christmas music playing in the background and had lots of fun in the kitchen. Not to mention...eating all the goodies was well worth the effort!
On Christmas Eve, we all went over to my Grandma Stalvey's house for dinner, then we opened gifts from one another. As always, we ate a lot, sang a lot, and laughed a lot. It's always a loud and crazy time when all the Stalveys get together. If you don't believe me, just ask my hubby...haha! On Christmas morning, it was just Paul and I who woke up at my mom and dad's house. The four of us peeked in our stockings and opened gifts from our spouses. We then got ready for the day and went over to the Conary household to see what the Conary children got from Santa. Once Bryan and Rebecca came back from Tabor City (where Rebecca's family is), we ate Christmas lunch together, and then opened gifts from Mom and Dad and each other. After presents, Paul and I headed to Camden to spend Christmas night with his family. When we finally arrived at Jayne and Otis's house, Carrie's family and Elizabeth were already there waiting. We ate Christmas dinner together, and then opened gifts from one another. It was funny to look at the horrible mess we made from all the wrapping paper and boxes. We had a great time that night. I was excited to spend Christmas with my new family...new traditions in the making.

I could not have asked for a better Christmas. The best part is remembering our Savior's miraculous birth, and remembering all He did for us. I love how much we actually take the time and focus on Jesus Christ during this time of year...now I hope I remember to focus that much on Him everyday. The next best thing is all the time spent with family. I love all my family so much and don't know what I would do without them. I am so grateful that Paul and I have such good relationships with our family members and that we enjoy being around them :)
